Are we concern about UTP??

I have to admit i have been so insensitive to this H1N1 Virus outbreak. Nevertheless, once it affects my life, my plan. I start to look into it in a more detailed way.

Anyway, My Convocation might be affected by this pandemic. Refer below.

Dear All,

We have listed below the ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ (FAQs) on H1N1. Please read through for your own understanding and also please respond accurately if you receive any queries from students, parents and public.

Q1. Are any of UTP students infected with Influenza A(H1N1)?
Ans: No confirmed cases. Six (6) throat swab were taken on 27 July 2009 by Perak Tengah Health Department, however until 30 July 09, the results has not been announced yet.

Q2: Is it true that UTP will be closed in the nearest time?
Ans: UTP Management is monitoring the Influenza Like Illness (ILI) trend. If the cases reach 100, the University will be closed after consultation from Perak Tengah Health Department.

Q3: What has UTP done to mitigate the spread of ILI?
Ans: Students will be quarantined if they show severe ILI symptoms such high fever (>37.5 deg C). Stringent access control is being imposed, food & beverages is supplied and in-house doctor is monitoring their health conditions daily. For those who show mild symptoms, 2 days medical leave will be given and they were instructed to stay at their respective room with strict precautions. All student activities outside campus has been reviewed and external visits (i.e. school visit) has been cancelled. Surface disinfection works at public areas is on-going and face masks has been distributed to all staff & students.

Q4: What is the advice to the suspected ILI?
Ans: Don’t panic and seek medical attention from UTP in-house clinic immediately. Cover your mouth and nose appropriately and avoid going to crowded places.

Q5: What is the advice to the students who have been instructed to undergo home-quarantine?Ans: Refer to the attached ‘UTP Home Isolation Guidelines’.Q6: Where can parents get latest information of the status?

Q7: Can parents take their affected ILI son/daughter back home?
Ans: Not advisable since they will spread the disease to the public, however it will be allowed if their parents take strict precautions and use private transportation.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT – CLOSURE OF UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI PETRONAS DUE TO INFLUENZA-LIKE DECEASE (31st July 20009 – 6th August 2009)

In relation to the above, students are to inform respective parents and guardians on the above measure taken by the university to curb the spread of influenza-like decease in UTP. Please share with parents/guardians on the advisory notice and guidelines

Dear all,

I wish to inform all of you, in view of the Influenza-like Illness (ILI) among our students, we have decided to close the university beginning 3.00pm today, Friday, 31 July 2009 until 3.00pm, Thursday, 6 August 2009. All students (UG & PG) without symptoms of ILI are to leave the campus starting 3.00pm onwards and latest by at 12.00 noon, Saturday, 1 August 2009.All academic activities will resume on Monday, 10 August 2009.
International students and students from Sabah and Sarawak can remain in campus. However, please note that you are not allowed to leave the campus during the above campus closure period.

Exit Instruction:
Students are encouraged to return home either by using public transport, own transportation or with parents/guardian. Please refer the ‘Home Assessment Tool’ provided by the Health Ministry as a guide to ensure your protection against H1N1. You can collect this at the Main Guard House.

Students with the ILI symptoms must undergo screening at the UTP Health Centre before returning home. If you are required to be quarantined you may only return home accompanied by parents/guardian. You must take all necessary precautions including wearing a face mask at all times. Please refer to the ‘Home Assessment Tool’ provided by the Health Ministry as guide for patient at home quarantine.

The university will provide buses to Medan Gopeng Bus Station starting 3.00pm today.
Please leave all your room keys with Residential College Office for disinfection purposes. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action/s.
